YouTube's recommendation algorithm is extraordinarily powerful and extraordinarily dangerous for children. One innocuous cartoon leads to a toy review, which leads to a prank video, which leads somewhere no parent wants their child to be. KidsPlaylist eliminates this entirely.
Kids only ever see the videos you have explicitly approved. When a video ends, the next one in your playlist plays. There are no suggested videos panels, no "up next" autoplay chains leading off-playlist, and no search functionality for children. The content experience is completely contained within your approved list.

Parent-controlled playlists
KidsPlaylist puts editorial control squarely in your hands. Add any YouTube video to your family's approved playlist by pasting its URL. Want to add a BBC Earth nature documentary? A Sesame Street episode? An age-appropriate science channel? A favourite children's song? Paste the URL and it's in.
Removing videos is equally simple. Change your mind? Tap remove. The playlist updates instantly across all your family's devices. You can build themed playlists for science, stories, or geography. The parent dashboard is straightforward enough to use in under a minute.

No suggested videos or autoplay chains
KidsPlaylist is a simple filter on top of YouTube, not a standalone platform. Videos still play via YouTube's embed player, but everything around the video: suggestions, comments, related content, is removed.
We achieve this by embedding YouTube videos through their IFrame API in a carefully restricted mode. Your child watches the video you approved, then the next approved video in your playlist. Nothing else enters the picture.

KidsPlaylist is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means it installs and runs like a native app on any device with a modern browser. iPhone, Android phone, iPad, Android tablet, Chromebook, Windows laptop, Mac: if it has a browser, it runs KidsPlaylist.
Installing is as simple as tapping "Add to Home Screen" in your browser's menu. Once installed, KidsPlaylist launches in fullscreen mode with no browser chrome visible, giving kids a true app-like experience. Because it's a PWA, there's nothing to download from an app store and no updates to manage.
Children are not tracked. Period.
Privacy-first by design
We built KidsPlaylist around a simple principle: children should not have digital accounts. We do not collect names, ages, viewing histories, or any personal information from children. There is no child-facing login, no avatar creation, no profile building of any kind.
The only account in KidsPlaylist is the parent's, and even that is just your family code and a payment method. We don't know your children's names. We don't know what they watch. We don't know how long they watch. This is a deliberate architectural choice that keeps children's data from ever entering our systems.

When you sign up, KidsPlaylist generates a unique family code: a short, memorable string like xk3p-m7q2-r9vc. This is your account. Share it with family members to give them access to the same playlist. Enter it on any device to sync your approved videos instantly.
The family code isn't just a clever design choice. It's a privacy decision. Without an email address in the system, there's less personal data to protect and no password to forget or reset. Treat your family code like a password: keep it within the family.
